Sophia Orr is a senior at Boston University (BU) studying public relations and international relations. Her passion for sustainability began her freshman year when she learned about the waste generated by college students, inspiring her to launch a move-out campaign to reduce end-of-year waste. After transferring to BU, she continued this work through an internship with BU Sustainability, where she helped plan awareness campaigns and facilitated educational workshops for students and staff. This semester, Sophia is writing a blog on sustainable living for college students and delivering a Tedx Talk at BU on the topic. As an EarthEcho Youth Ambassador, she works to educate others on plastic pollution and personal waste reduction through community initiatives across Boston. Outside of sustainability, Sophia mentors with Big Brother Big Sisters, enjoys hanging with friends, and plays field hockey.
