EarthEcho Water Challenge Ambassador
Emilia Fiebel is a Water Challenge ambassador from Hollywood, Florida. She is 16 years old and goes to Sheridan Technical High School. She has always been in love with the ocean and has spoken at more than 15 virtual abs physical environmental conventions. Her most memorable being when she attended the Algalita POPS Youth Summit in 2018 to speak about her fight to remove single-use plastics in restaurants on her beaches. She even went to the City Hall of Fort Lauderdale to present her initiative to the board. Most recently she has been focusing on her Food Recovery Initiative at Beachside Montessori Village and is in the process of planning a program at STHS. She hopes that with a food recovery program at every school, she can not only help the community by donating unwanted foods to food banks and women’s shelters, but by reducing the greenhouse gases that would enter the atmosphere and the plastic from the containers that would be put in the landfill. She currently is enrolled in the STEM Leadership Internship with Broward County Libraries where she explores their Creation Station program to encourage kids in the community to use technology. In the past year she was also quoted in the newspaper the Sun Sentinel for their Earth Day piece. She spoke about easy steps you can take to lower your carbon footprint. She is so excited to be a Water Challenge Ambassador and she hopes that she will be able to teach and learn in the next year.
