Daryth Morrissey

Expedition Fellow: Water By Design

Daryth Morrisey is a teacher in the Ocean View School District, Fountain Valley California. She teaches 7th and 8th grade Science.  Four years ago, her school became a STEM school and Daryth now gets to teach her passion, Marine Biology, as an elective.  Daryth has been a teacher for over 23 years. Her love of the ocean began early; her first love were the Orcas Corky and Orky at Marineland.   Today it is reflected in her classroom as she has over 80 orcas on her walls! Daryth believes in compassion in action. After losing her best friend to breast cancer, Daryth made the decision to be the change through her actions and words. Daryth hosts numerous beach cleanups, she is a certified Naturalist through both the Los Angeles and Orange County chapters of the American Cetacean Society. In her free time, she volunteers on whale watching boats out of Newport Beach, California. She sits on the boards of two ocean based non-profits.  Daryth is active in both the Amigos de Bolsa Chica and the American Cetacean Society – Orange County Chapter.  In her free time you might finder her sewing bags for the oyster restoration project or volunteering her and her students to tie eel grass sticks to help restore Newport Back Bay.  Daryth’s passion for the ocean and all life on the planet is clearly visible to all who know her.
