Sophia is a high school junior. Since she was a young child, her family has taken trips to New Hampshire each year, to go hiking, which is where her love of the environment began. Growing up on Long Island, she has been near beaches her whole life, where she has experienced the littering problem firsthand. This year, she has had the opportunity to participate in a science journal club in Cold Spring Harbor. She is also currently a youth ambassador for NOAA. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending times with her friends.
