Sophia Deng

"Sophia is a 19 year-old undergraduate student at Barnard College of Columbia studying environmental science.

She is currently a research associate technician intern for the Billion Oyster Project, a New York based non-profit building oyster reefs to restore the New York harbor. As part of her work, Sophia assists with oyster data collection and leads community engagement programs. Beyond Billion Oyster Project, she has experience conducting environmental research with George Mason University and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Sophia is also an instructor for Sprout Up, an environmental education initiative teaching weekly science lessons to public elementary schools.

Beyond her environmental interests- Sophia is an active member of her college radio, fashion enthusiast, and avid journaler."
