Sanya Ahmed

A sophomore in high school, Sanya is just starting out — but her environmental journey began years ago. As a kid in elementary school, she led a school-wide campaign to recycle Crayola markers and organized a plastic bottle art competition to raise awareness about plastic waste. In middle school, she founded her school’s environmental club, led a butterfly garden restoration project, and guided her school’s participation in the Broward Youth Climate Summit, where she was the only middle school presenter. Now in high school, Sanya is more passionate than ever about environmental advocacy. Growing up in Florida, surrounded by the Everglades, marshlands, and beaches, she’s seen firsthand the importance of protecting our ecosystems. She’s eager to deepen her understanding of plastic pollution and expand her reach to inspire more people to take action.
