Reg Macarro

Reg Macarro is enrolled member of the Pechanga Band of Indians as well as a descendant of the Red Lake Nation. He is currently a student at the University of California, Berkeley pursuing a degree in Conservation & Resource Studies with a minor in Native American Studies. After graduating he plans to attend law school, focusing on environmental law & policy.

Reg’s advocacy is rooted in cultural knowledge and existence coming from both of his tribes. This past year, he served as the 2nd Indigenous & Native community endorsed Senator at UC Berkeley. More recently, he was selected for the 2026 California Native Youth Collective fellowship through the Center for Native American Youth and became a 2026 25 Under 25 Honoree through the United National Indian Tribal Youth Organization.

As an Ocean Protection Ambassador, Reg plans to advocate and work with Indigenous people to ensure their voices are heard and the water is being treated with the utmost respect. Payómkawichum people have stewarded these coastal lands since time immemorial, the importance of this knowledge is essential to maintaining a healthy relationship with our waters.
