Nevaeh Thomas
Nevaeh Thomas is a current student at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, majoring in Marine Sciences. Growing up in San Diego, California, for 13 years, Nevaeh has always loved the world’s oceans and the life that inhabits them. Growing up in Girl Scouts, she had always been one to take action and spread awareness on the causes she cared about, from workshops promoting how to best recycle efficiently while supporting local businesses to completing her Silver Award project around how to coexist with native species in Joshua Tree National Park. After moving from coast to coast, Summerville, South Carolina, in the middle of her freshman year, gave a new perspective on new environmental issues and a great chance to meet new advocates for them as well. Through Junior year of high school, up until the end of the summer before she left for college, she worked as a paid intern under the Education department of the South Carolina Aquarium. There she worked on the floor, communicating to the public about the natural wonders of the state, the animals, and planned aquarium run events such as the 2024 NOAA CELC Youth Summit. Now as a Marine Plastics Ambassador, she hopes to gain even more experience in inviting the public with her on the ultimate goal of environmental awareness.
