Kyla Vega

Kyla is a first-year student at Mount Saint Mary’s University and a Marine Plastics Ambassador passionate about ocean conservation and environmental health. Her work spans scientific research and community engagement, including working with the United States Department of Energy on environmental research based on ocean-based climate interventions. She has also supported ecological restoration efforts in Hawaiʻi, studying native seaweed and promoting sustainable practices within local communities. As a United Nations youth delegate participating in ocean-focused discussions such as BBNJ PrepComm III, she has engaged in global dialogue on marine biodiversity and environmental governance. Through her work, Kyla is committed to addressing marine plastic pollution by combining research, advocacy, and community-based solutions to drive meaningful, long-term impact.
