KC Fleming is a 17 year-old graduate living in Campbell River, BC. KC rediscovered their love for the sky and sea thanks to the long summer nights they spent stargazing with their best friend. Their budding interest in the blue between their island grew into an active passion when they were given the opportunity to work at their local aquarium. Alongside taking care of the crabs, jellyfish, and octopi, KC began learning about the ocean whenever they had a chance. They'd read articles on deep-sea gigantism over breakfast, listen to science podcasts on the way to work, and watch National Geographic documentaries before bed. KC became passionate about engaging education and lessons that applied teachings into real-life scenarios. It's their mission to provide people with a space to learn and care about the obscure and the bizarre. KC hopes to be a teacher one day who inspires curiosity and hope in the people they teach. They're eternally grateful for being raised in such a bio-diverse environment; having the deep blue pacific ocean by their door-step and the lush temperate rainforest in their backyard. It is because their life is so attached to the natural world around them that they are determined to help protect and take care of it. In their spare time they can be found sewing, taking care of marine life at their local aquarium, or reading novels on their patio.
