Kamila Pérez is a 17-year-old student from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, born in Moca and shaped by strong family roots in both Aguadilla and Maricao. Growing up surrounded by the ocean and Puerto Rico’s mountainous landscapes inspired a deep appreciation for nature and environmental conservation.Kamila has a passion for marine biology and has spent years collaborating with Surfrider Puerto Rico, participating in scientific marine investigations and environmental initiatives focused on understanding and protecting coastal ecosystems. Her interest in science is driven by curiosity, research, and a desire to contribute to the preservation of marine environments.Outside of academics and research, Kamila plays beach volleyball and enjoys spending time outdoors. She feels strongly connected to nature and values the balance between science, physical activity, and environmental awareness.With interests that combine marine science, conservation, and community involvement, Kamila continues to develop as a young researcher dedicated to learning more about the natural world and protecting it for future generations.
