Jafet Santos-Maldonado
To raise awareness for mangrove protection, restoration, and conservation, he hosted a series of community-centered events designed to engage people in diverse and meaningful ways. These initiatives brought community members together around the importance of mangroves and their role in coastal ecosystems. He launched the project at the local coffee shop, where he hosted a film screening in collaboration with the Blue Carbon Challenge. He later organized a shark workshop focused on local species and their ecological relationship with mangroves, as well as a mangrove propagule collection day. To highlight the connection between mangroves and water quality, he facilitated a workshop at a local school. In collaboration with other Blue Carbon Ambassadors in Puerto Rico, he also helped organize two mangrove restoration events.
