Autone Mululuma
Zambia
Autone Mululuma is a passionate Climate Justice and Ocean Advocate committed to advancing climate awareness, ecosystems and biodiversity conservation, and youth participation. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Natural Resources Management (ENRM) at the University of Zambia and is a member of the Swedish Embassy in Zambia Youth Advisory Network (YAN).
He serves as Communications Lead at Youth4Climate Justice (Y4CJ), a youth-led movement dedicated to promoting climate justice and environmental sustainability in Zambia, while fostering inclusive community development with a human rights-based approach. Functioning as the focal point for communication in the movement has contributed to a better understanding of the needs of local communities and informed interventions that seek to build resilience. He has acquired skills to effectively organize young people and communities to act for root-level change and create digital content that is both catchy and relevant to bridging knowledge gaps for sustainable environmental action.
In 2025, he led a year-long campaign as a High Seas Youth Ambassador with EarthEcho International and the High Seas Alliance to raise awareness about the importance of protecting Ocean biodiversity, even for landlocked nations like Zambia, and to build support for the ratification of the High Seas Treaty by Zambia. In this role, he engaged with government officials, local leaders, children, and youth, and engaged over 1,000 people over the course of the campaign, through school outreach programs, University presentations, creative arts centered events and media engagements.
At the University, he serves as Vice Chairperson of the University of Zambia Natural Resources Society, where he contributes to fostering sound representation of students in matters of their studies, but importantly to the conservation of natural resources, through programming events and activities where students actively participate and contribute to national as well as global sustainability.
He is continually driven to acquire new skills that address pressing inequalities and injustices affecting both the planet and underrepresented communities. His work particularly focuses on ocean issues, challenging the “no coast, no concern” narrative often attached to landlocked countries and promoting inclusive global ocean participation while empowering communities to lead local climate solutions.
