Ariane Lemaire
Ariane is an Endangered Species Coalition Fellow and Advisor, Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar, Rachel Carson Duke University Marine Lab Scholar, and Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award recipient. Hailing from the Caribbean and North Carolina, Ariane is passionate for conservation across biomes, environmental justice, and interdisciplinary teamwork at the intersection of science and policy. During the pandemic, Ariane sewed 80+ masks donated to medical facilities and first responders. Simultaneously, she led an international Forbes-featured nonprofit with 600+ students collaborating on humanitarian projects. With UC San Diego, she researched the embryonic development of pollutant-exposed sea urchins. She has worked at a native plant nursery, botanical garden, and created a grant-supported pollinator garden. Ariane volunteers with Sunrise Movement’s Electoral Team and demonstrates with nonviolent community groups. As Ambassador, she aspires to improve waterway health and increase accessibility to sustainable action. For fun, she enjoys beading, painting, and making ecosystems for rehabilitating betta fish.
