Alexis Moreno is a senior at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, majoring in Animal Science with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary and with minors in biology, chemistry, and business. She is pursuing a career as a marine veterinarian. With over 2,000 hours of veterinary clinical experience, Alexis is passionate about advocating for animal welfare and protecting the environments animals depend on. Her interest in environmental issues stems from understanding how human activity, especially plastic pollution, harms wildlife and marine ecosystems. Alexis is particularly passionate about reducing marine plastic pollution and raising awareness about how everyday choices impact ocean health. As a Marine Plastic Ambassador, she hopes to educate her community, especially surrounding rural communities, about the effects of plastic waste on marine life and inspire more sustainable habits. Through community engagement and support for policy improvements, she aims to encourage meaningful action to protect marine ecosystems.
