Alex Webster

Alex Webster is an internationally recognized marine researcher, ocean advocate, and youth leader whose lifelong commitment to protecting coastal ecosystems was shaped by growing up along Florida’s ever-degrading Indian River Lagoon. A John V. Lombardi Scholar at the University of Florida, Alex is majoring in Marine Science to earn a combined Bachelor's and Master's degree, striving to pursue a PhD in Marine Ecotoxicology. As the founder and CEO of the youth-led environmental nonprofit My Pet Mangrove, he has mobilized hundreds of citizens and empowered K–12 students to become active stewards of their local ecosystems through habitat restoration. A sought-after voice in oceanic science, Alex has served as a youth delegate to the United Nations, a NOAA Ocean Guardian, and a catalyst for marine legislation. As an EarthEcho Marine Plastic Ambassador, he works to expand scientific literacy and educate communities about plastic contaminants, pushing others to take action toward healthier oceans.
