Keira Blakey

Originally from Palm City, Florida, Keira is a senior marine biology major, graduating from the University of South Florida in May! When she isn’t at school, Keira works seasonally on the education team at Florida Oceanographic Society’s Coastal Center, conducting daily public presentations about marine and environmental conservation. Her passion is primarily marine conservation, specifically with sharks and how they may be impacted with global climate change. Keira’s passion for conservation developed in early childhood while growing up on the Indian River Lagoon Estuary, an ecosystem she hopes her work will positively impact. She has been involved in numerous projects including working as an intern and volunteer for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Research Institute and participating in citizen science projects with the Ocean Research and Conservation Association. Through this program, she hopes to drive her home town towards a more sustainable future by reducing plastic consumption.
