The Youth Plastic Mitigation Monitor Campaign was designed to focus on deconstructing and altering youth behavior regarding single-used plastic. As an individual working on my own behavior, I understood the difficulty and challenge of plastic reduction behavior. Therefore, I wanted to begin to address it at a young age when habits are more easily formed.
Today, EarthEcho International and SC Johnson proudly announced the 2025 cohort of Marine Plastics Ambassadors—a dedicated group of 30 young changemakers (ages 16-22) from across the United States. These passionate advocates will lead the charge in designing and implementing innovative campaigns and entrepreneurial solutions to combat plastic pollution and raise awareness of its devastating effects on our oceans and communities.
The 5th annual OurEcho Challenge awards $6,000 to young changemakers
Canadians consume two per cent of the planet’s plastics, though we represent just 0.5 per cent of the Earth’s population. From cigarette butts to styrofoam fragments, a culture of improper disposal continues to contaminate this vital ecosystem. Over the last few years living in Montreal, I have witnessed a significant gap between dedicated marine plastics curriculum within education. That’s where Project S.T.O.P (save the oceans from plastic) began.
