Water Challenge Regional Coordinator, Youth Leadership Council and Board of Directors Member
Nicolás Chesta is a freshman at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Chile; he is studying Business and Management because he is convinced that sustainability in businesses is crucial to fight against Climate Change. Due to his passion in being involved in his community, Nicolás was selected in 2017 by the U.S. Department of State to be a Chilean Youth Ambassador, an opportunity for young leaders to travel to the United States and learn essential techniques to engage people and promote sustainable projects that will have an impact in the future of their communities. When returned, he led a Vertical Gardens Project, an activity that would change the perspective of his school from grey color to a green one. When concluded, he was recognized by World Learning and Youth Ambassadors Program by the positive impact made in his community and his contribution to the environment.
In 2018, Nicolás was selected by EarthEcho International to join the Youth Leadership Council, he was able to think about environmental issues in his country with an International perspective by “thinking globally and acting locally”. In the same year, he was selected to be a World Oceans Day Youth Advisory Council Member and joined a group of visionaries in the ocean´s conservation area. In order to celebrate World Oceans Day, Nicolás organized a massive beach cleanup with the objective of generating an instance for young people and organizations to meet and collaborate for the ocean´s conservation. In 2019, he was selected as a Latin American Leader by Latin American Leadership Academy Bootcamp, held in São Paulo, Brazil. There, he was able to join other international leaders to create social and economic impacts across Latin America. Nowadays, Nicolás is developing a sustainable clothing brand named Preamy Chile.
