Over 100 participants from 20+ countries united at the EarthEcho Youth Action Network to build connections and create plans to educate their communities on the importance of marine protected areas.
Over the last couple of weeks as political rhetoric has escalated, historic fires have raged across the west, and a global pandemic has continued to hold our entire country in its grip, I have found myself perusing photos and noting treasured keepsakes that remind me of the amazing places in the world that I have been fortunate to visit. Many are far away while some are practically in my own backyard. Travel and exploration are core to who I am, an inherited legacy for which I am grateful. During this quarantine, I have been channeling my wanderlust into a terrific project that I want to share with you all!
Nearly 800 million people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water and every two minutes, a child dies from a water-related disease. This statistic was true before the start of a global pandemic and likely became worse in recent months. But we can do better. Whether the challenge is water scarcity due to climate change, access to clean water and sanitation, building affordable, resilient infrastructure, or simply connecting citizens to the water that sustains them, solutions require strong leadership, innovation, and collaboration. While the scale of the global water crisis seems overwhelming, we have the solutions at hand...we CAN “Solve Water” and that should be a call to action for each of us! That’s why we need each one of YOU to join EarthEcho International in September as we celebrate World Water Monitoring Day (September 18) with a week full of activities to connect to water resources and inspire action.
A new group of environmental champions are stepping forward to take action for the health of our planet! EarthEcho International and Aramco today announced the three middle school teams selected as the grand prize winners of the OurEcho Challenge. The winning teams were part of the new competition that equips U.S. middle school students to tackle the decline in biodiversity by proposing solutions to support robust ecosystems at a community level.
