Winning Advice from Previous OurEcho Challenge Team

"Super Plants" growing in San Francisco Bay area classrooms, provided by Team Super Plants

We recently heard from 2020 OurEcho Challenge 2nd place winners, Team Super Plants from Proof School in San Francisco, CA, USA. Below is their advice for students entering this year's OurEcho Challenge.

"The OurEcho Challenge has connected Team Super Plants with amazing youth across the US and given our team incredible support. It is inspiring to see so many other youth taking action to protect our environment!

Are you participating in the OurEcho Challenge this year? Here are three lessons from our experience:

1. Identify your target audience: whom will you engage in your project and how can you adapt it to their interests? (teachers, students, organizations, etc.).

2. Receive feedback: we conducted teacher interviews, revised our materials, and talked to scientists.

3. Build a larger team: consider building a larger team to expand your reach and bring new ideas to the project.

Team Super Plants is now heading into Bay Area 4-6th grade classrooms to grow Super Plants, plants that intake more CO2 to combat global warming."
