A message from Philippe Cousteau Jr.

Thirteen years ago my mother, sister, and I founded EarthEcho International guided by my father’s belief in “a world where every single child can breathe fresh air, drink clean water, and walk on green grass under a blue sky.” While, over the years, EarthEcho’s programs have evolved, the core belief has persisted – young people are the only true agents of positive change related to our environmental challenges anywhere in the world. We see this now more than ever with amazing young people challenging the misguided policies that continue to threaten their futures in Australiaand the U.S. While students across the world develop solutions to the greatest threats that humanity is facing like global plastic pollution, ocean acidification, access to clean water, and climate change.

Building from my father’s vision, I have always held true that kids are our future so Ashlan and I are excited to announce that we are expecting our first child! I lost my father 6 months before I was born in an airplane accident and I have dreamed of closing the circle of life that always felt unfinished by becoming a father myself. Another thing my father always said is that “adventure is where you lead a full life” and raising a child will be one of the greatest adventures of all. Beyond our personal joy, we are excited to see how the Cousteau legacy of my father and grandfather will be carried forward by our little Babyfish. Just like the amazing youth that I have worked with for years as part of EarthEcho, I know that this new little person is a promise to make the world a better place for all of us!
