Stephen P. Kalish is the Senior Director, Leadership Development and Change Management at Xylem Inc. As a member of Xylem’s executive leadership group, Steve is responsible for coordinating organizational change management, ensuring alignment of major global change initiatives across geographies and businesses. Steve also oversees Xylem’s early-career development programs including Strategy Fellows, Innovation & Technology Fellows, Engineering Leadership Development Program, Operational Leadership Development Program, Emerging Leaders Network, and other similar developmental programs. Steve was previously the Director of Strategic Planning, Management, and Execution at Xylem.

Steve joined ITT Defense in 1987 as a Program Manager responsible for development and production of 21 navigation payloads for the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite program. In 2004, Steve joined ITT Fluid Technology to lead the deployment of best practice product development processes and the organization’s Technology Council. In 2006, Steve assumed responsibility for strategic planning where he led implementation of a market-based strategic planning approach. Prior to his current role, Steve held various executive roles including Director of ITT’s Integrated Management System, Transition Leader for the spinoff from ITT, and Director of Strategy for Xylem. Steve is also a member of Xylem’s Watermark Executive Committee (Xylem’s signature philanthropic program).
Steve’s passions include leadership development and water education. He introduced and has led EarthEcho Water Challenge events for 100 elementary school children every year since 2009. He is an elected member of the Westwood Regional School District Board of Education in northern NJ; he sponsors the annual Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award at five high schools in northern New Jersey; and he serves on the Board of the West Point Society of the Mid-Hudson Region. Steve was elected to the EarthEcho Board of Directors in February 2017.
Steve graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He served 5 years on active duty in the U.S. Army and 14 years in the Army Reserves. Steve and his wife, Grace and their four children live in Northern New Jersey.
