Water Challenge Ambassador
Sarah Emerson is a sophomore at Vanguard College Preparatory School. Since the age of four, Sarah has had a passion for marine life. She is an aspiring marine biologist and a certified scuba diver. Sarah is on the varsity tennis team at Vanguard where she plays as the girl’s number 1. She has been playing tennis for four years, studied piano for nine years, and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society. Sarah has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. as well as internationally (traveling to many countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa). Most recently, Sarah traveled with Semester at Sea in the spring of 2017 where she took an oceanography course and helped to deploy a NOAA research buoy. Over the years, Sarah has participated in a number of marine science summer camps including the Sea GEMS (Girls Exploring Marine Science) leadership camp at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, San Diego Sea Camp, and Catalina Sea Camp. She is a 2019 University of Miami Summer Scholar on the Marine Conservation – Shark Ecology and Marine Mammals academic track. Sarah is excited to work with her community to keep the local rivers and lake in excellent condition.
