Katie Murray
Communications Coordinator
Growing up on Long Island Sound, Katie has always been drawn to all things water. For university, she landed in Burlington, VT right on Lake Champlain where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, with a minor in theatre. This unique combination landed her in the marine science education field, where she worked as an educator with The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT. After 23 (chilly) years in New England, she decided it was time to move to Florida where the marine science opportunities were abounding. Shortly after this move, she graduated with her Master’s degree in Global Sustainability with a focus on Sustainable Tourism, which led her to new opportunities as a key member of the Brand Team at ZooTampa at Lowry Park and now as Communications Coordinator with EarthEcho. Katie is also President of the Florida Marine Science Educators Association (FMSEA), and a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) with the National Association of Interpreters (NAI). When not hard at work spreading the word about sustainability, she can be found underwater (diving), on stage at a community theatre, or on a "photo walk" at a local park.
