Senior Water Challenge Ambassador
Jonathan is a Junior in the International Baccalaureate Program at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland. He is interested in aquatic biology, ichthyology, and invasive fish species. Through his passion for fishing, he has gotten involved with water quality monitoring based on the presence of macro-invertebrates, stream restoration, and other water conservation activities. Jonathan has participated in multiple research projects on fish such as “Individual Fish Specimen Recognition Using Image Processing” and “Effect of Water Temperature, Water Acidity, and Animal Age/ Body Size on Opercular Respiratory Rate of Brown Bullhead Catfish”. Growing up in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, Jonathan enjoys volunteering for Chesapeake Bay Foundation as a member of the Student Bay Advisory Committee for student environmental leaders. For 2 years, he has participated in the Wildlife Leadership Academy summer field schools focusing on wildlife/ fisheries biology and conservation and the yearlong community outreach program. Jonathan is currently working on a campaign to protect various fish species from mishandling during catch and release fishing technique or other fishing-related manipulation.
