I live in southern California, one of the most diverse and imperiled areas in the World. I have been a member of the Audubon Society for many years and have logged onto the websites and newsletters of many conservation organizations.
I found out that many of these organizations have Conservation alerts that notify me and others about pending government decisions that the public can influence.
They make it very easy for the public to make our conservation beliefs known to the decision makers via e-mail. I review the example letter and add to it or personalize it and they they forward it to the decision makers that will be deciding on the issue.
This way, hundreds of thousands of people can make our conservation concerns known to the decision makers and many bad environmental proposals have been stopped by this large public outcry.
Through these websites, I am able to comment on 5-10 projects a week and have an influence on world-wide conservation issues.
