Being only 14, I am not usually taken seriously when I bring up an issue about our world to family, friends, or even teachers. Even though they seem to shut me out, I am passionate enough to be persistent in teaching, as well as reminding, them about the importance of our natural world - and the damage we are causing it. My interest in animals, mainly aquatic creatures, has been a part of me since I was born. I find myself staring in awe at animals, even the ones that seem as insignificant as a mouse. However; the truth is there is no such thing as an insignificant being. Everything on this Earth plays an important role in maintaing a healthy ecosystem. The fact that there are some people with so much disrespect to our world that they destroy it with little or no worry is the thing that gets to me most. Watching, reading about, or hearing the horrors and atrocities that are being done to plants and animals around the world puts me on the verge of tears. I've always wanted to be able to something about it... and now I think I can. Choosing to go to college, when the time comes, for Biology/Marine Biology could be the chance for me to make a difference on a huge scale in the world. To maybe stop the slaughter of our marine life, and the destruction humans and their pollution do to our oceanic ecosystems. I feel like I can change something - and I am going to follow up on it.
