Application sare open for the 2012 Youth Ocean Conservation Team mini-grants! Tthese grants are designed to help provide you with funding to initiate the ocean conservation projects you’ve planned. Thanks to support from partners at the International Ocean Institute-USA, and funds raised from the first Community Ocean Conservation Film Festival, Stow It Don't Throw it is able to offer grants of up to $200 to help fund your conservation projects! LA ‘Meatless Mondays’: Los Angeles City Council Endorses Healthier Eating Habits
From the City Council that declared war on trans-fats and fast-food restaurants comes the latest way to make residents feel, well, guilty about what they eat. The Los Angeles council, in a 14-0 vote on Friday, adopted a resolution urging residents to adopt a personal pledge to have a "meatless Monday." While it does not have the force of law and police will not be checking what you brought to work for lunch, city officials said they hope it will start a trend, make residents healthier and reduce the impact on the environment.

Young People Take Action to Promote Ocean Conservation and Protect Marine Ecosystems
On Friday November 2nd and Saturday November 3rd, over two hundred participants, and presenters, representing Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC, came together, at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida for two special events aimed at increasing public awareness of pressing ocean conservation issues and the implementation of youth lied ocean conservation projects to combat these challenges.

“The Big CleanUP” Recycling Contest is a Big Success
TerraCycle Founder and CEO, Tom Szaky, and environmental advocate and Co-Founder of EarthEcho International, Philippe Cousteau Jr., partnered in June to sponsor a summer-long challenge designed to engage youth in tackling the growing issue of ocean debris.
