Under Malaysia’s clear blue waters lies a bio-diverse world spectacular in nature. Often called the rainforest of the seas, coral reefs are comprised of billions of small individual living animals, many as small as your fingertip, with vibrant colors and extraordinary visual patterns.

Through the use of the underwater lens, I will create an interactive video documentary that brings to life the undulating motions of the corals and marine inhabitants. As part of a global initiative to connect University students between Malaysia and the United States, we will also establish video conferencing, using Internet2 to explore the relationship between emerging technologies in conjunction with environmental issues. The goals of both the interactive documentary and the video conference are to educate and internationalize awareness about Malaysia’s precious coral reefs.

Viewing these coral reefs as living animals will hopefully inspire others to contemplate how we are all part of one global, fascinating, beautiful ecosystem.
