Sustainable Seafood

I love seafood but there is so much of it I won’t eat because it’s not sustainable. “So, what IS sustainable?” is a question I get a lot. Check out this video blog by Brian Halweil of the Worldwatch Institute. It says it all!

Several chefs in the Washington, DC, area are have made a commitment to sustainable seafood in their restaurants. Today’s Washington Post article highlights the good work that our friend Barton Seaver is doing at his new restaurant Hook. EarthEcho is happy to be working with Barton and his staff to help them communicate their messages of sustainability.

   For some reason, I don’t like seafood. I don’t eat fish, seafood, or whatever that comes from the Ocean …

   Thank you for posting this. I love seafood but I always felt kind of guilty since I was never sure what was good to eat and what was hurting the fish population.

   Oh my goodness !! I just read the article Patricia ! That is frightening. But you know what I think even he were to get rid of 90% of the population, who says it won’t be like this again one day ? And we all die one day.

   I understand we are too much for this planet, and I believe people tend to forget : the animals were here before us, the living creatures such as plants and flowers. We are only passengers on this spaceship. The captain is : Earth. No one else.

   But never would I want the death of innoncent people. But environmentalism is becoming a big issue. Children are learning and eager to save it. There is hope. As long as there is a little bit of faith, trust and pixie dust =D There will be better tommorrows.

   I’ve never been into sea food. Fish, Crab, Shrimp. Nothing from the Sea seems amazingly good.

   My kids crave sea food though, so I have to make it.
