David Sontag is a retired Wesley Wallace Distinguished Professor of Communication Studies and Director of the Writing for the Screen and Stage Program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is also an award-winning writer and producer and has held numerous creative and executive positions in film and television. Mr. Sontag was the Executive Producer at ABC, and was Senior Vice-President and creative head of 20th Century Fox Television. He has lectured and held residency positions at numerous institutions, including the Aspen Institute, The University of Southern California, and The University of Colorado. Mr. Sontag is the on the Executive Committee and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Symphony. He is Past President of the Board of Directors of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, a member of the Advisory Board of the Morehead Planetarium and Science Foundation, on the Advisory Board of the PlayMakers Reparatory Theatre, the Founder of the Native Americas International Film Exposition, and was a Trustee and Executive Committee member for the Aspen Music Festival. He has been nominated for both the Writers' Guild and Humanitas awards.
