Dr. Gloria Chernay is Acting Chief of the Office of Education and Director of the Natural Partners Program for Education Outreach at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution. Her responsibilities include supervision of the development of education websites and other electronic media, curricula to accompany exhibitions, and other educational activities. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of the Association of Teacher Educators and held managerial positions in accreditation organizations. She taught at the high school and university levels, served as a university administrator, and holds teacher certification for elementary and secondary levels. Dr. Chernay has served as a consultant to the U.S. Departments of Education, Defense, and Energy, state departments of education, public school districts, and higher education institutions, for whom she has lectured, written, and conducted program evaluations on a range of education topics. She currently volunteers for the accreditation board of a national professional organization and on the Board of Directors for an African American adoption agency.
